TestimonialsGreetings Jane Welcome back I hear you say. Thank you. Just a quick note to let you know Lorraine and I had a great time in France and England. The mood on the bus with Jim (and the laughter) continued for the entire trip. All the group were excellent to travel with and we enjoyed their company. Bob and Pauline were so kind and thoughtful, and always put the rest of us before themselves. Both of them are classy human beings and I have a new level of respect for them both. As for the gardens, the French and English sure knew how to show off a few decades ago. It was indeed an eye opener for us, and we learnt a lot and got a few too many ideas I suspect. Our hotels and food was excellent, I think better than we had hoped for. Is there anything left, yes the guides. Elizabeth in Paris was a Professor of Architecture and History I think, or she could be. And she was very nice to boot. David in England was very good, very entertaining and a little different. He became one of us. Thanks for a great trip, we really enjoyed it. Regards, Ray Clement. Recently I travelled to Egypt for a 17 day holiday. The trip was organised by Travel & Tour Hunters, Maitland. From the time we arrived in Cairo we were accompanied at all times by a guide who couldn't do enough for us. Their knowledge was amazing and at all times they were pleasant and caring of our comfort. There was always a person to meet us at each stage of our trip and all tours went extremely smoothly. We were very impressed by the organisation throughout our holiday. Hotels, meals and tours were all of the highest quality and I would not hesitate in saying that this was one of the best holidays I have experienced. I have only the highest praise for Jane and her staff for the way in which this wonderful holiday was planned. Jan Noonan Dear Jane, I just wanted to thank you for a terrific holiday. Jan and I feel it was one of our best if not the best. Your organisation and efforts helped make it so. The thoughts you put into your notes, the efforts you put into getting our confidence levels up and your continued support during our homecoming glitch was wonderful. It was only a tiny glitch and could no way spoil our holiday, although I'm not sure my sinuses would agree with me. We followed your eating instructions to the letter - travel acidopholous and no salads or cut fruit and we were so well throughout the tour. Egypt was magic. I had the same feeling of awe when I saw the Pyramids as my first sight of Uluru- absolutely breathtaking. Each day got better and better - new sights, new experiences, and new sounds. The call to prayer will be something I will hear for a long time. Cairo traffic certainly put a new twist on driving. I loved Margo's explanation of accidents (little car kisses) I know my photos won't do justice to the noise and mayhem on Cairo's roads. I must say how wonderful our guides and drivers were. The guides knew Egypt in every aspect and could answer every question we asked and they were many and varied. Margo was kindness itself and made sure we lived every minute to the full. Our driver took us shopping in supermarkets and looked after us constantly. I don't think I will ever stop raving. The cruise passed all expectations. I need a new wardrobe the food was superb. Khaled our guide was again a font of knowledge and made sure we joined in every possible excursion. Although it was hot we always did morning and afternoon excursions to visit all the monuments so we could relax with a coffee and watch the world go by in the heat of the day. I'm so glad we did the hot air ballooning and the trip to Abu Simbal. They were two great experiences and unique in their own way. I got my Felucca ride but alas although Khaled tried to find a shadoof we had no success. Sharm el Sheik, we thought, would be relaxation time. But no, we used every day to the full. The 4 wheel drive and clambouring through the coloured canyons proved we still could rise to the challenge and live to tell the tale. My family would be proud if they could have seen me bracing myself against the roof as we screamed along at about 80kms an hour. Then the actual scramble through the canyon- The seat of my pants will never be clean! We loved the Fares Seafood Restaurant. It was recommended by everyone. The food was superb all through Egypt but their seafood soup (2 whole crabs and prawns, calamari and fish) was just wonderful. I have so many great memories and so many souvenirs - Jan is such a bad influence- a holiday to remember. I hope you won't mind me mentioning a few thought I have had. I thought they might help other Egypt travellers. I took Aussie Dollars and they were not accepted anywhere. Fortunately I had a travel card which I could use at most hotel's ATM's. In the places where there wasn't an ATM our guides would take us to an ATM and stand with us while we withdrew money. We were truly spoilt having just the 2 of us as a group. We were not told of the bone shaking severity or the difficulty of the walk through the Coloured canyon. People with a back problem or a walking problem would have had great difficulty with this excursion. I don't know what it would have been like if we had booked it through you before we left. We did not have anyone with us in Sharm el Sheik and so we might have picked the wrong tour organiser. I tried to borrow several of the books from your suggested reading list. The only one I could find was the Lonely Planet. It was excellent. I ended up buying it and took it with me. I would have liked to read some of the novels suggested. I must admit I only tried Sutherland and Engadine Libraries. Please recommend the Fares Restaurant to anyone with time to spend in Sharm. I have been back to Bowls and one of the bowlers was talking about the Egyptian Museum Artifacts coming to Melbourne. She had been to Egypt 4 years ago and mentioned that her guide was Sammi and mentioned the superb treatment she had received from him when she took sick on the Nile Cruise. He got his sister (a doctor) to visit her and made sure she was looked after thoroughly - another traveller who thoroughly enjoyed her Egyptian holiday. Thank you again. Harm el Sheik Lynn To Whom it may concern. I recently took part in a tour organised by Jane and Sally from Travel and Tour Hunters Maitland under the auspices of the 2/14th Battalion Association. We visited both Singapore and also Borneo (Indonesia), taking in both the usual tour sights and the not so usual war related aspects of these locations. Both Sally and Jane provided a very professional, efficient and customer oriented service to the very disparate group who undertook the trip. I would not hesitate to recommend their services to any person or group wishing to travel to these locations, or any other destination. George Friend, OAM Life Member 39th Battalion Association |
